Avaleah’s journey at Buddies Bagels is a shining example of what can happen when determination meets the right support system. Since joining the Buddies Bagels team in January, Avaleah has made an incredible impact, not only with her work ethic but also with the positivity she brings each day. 

From the moment she started, Avaleah was described as dependable, punctual, and eager to learn. Although she was a little shy and reserved at first, her supervisor, Amanda, noted that she never wants to let her team down and shows a strong desire to grow in her role. Her goal is to eventually become a full-time employee, and she’s well on her way. 

Avaleah approaches each day with a smile and a commitment to doing her best. Over time, she’s expanded her responsibilities, taking on more hours and learning new skills, including making sandwiches and working in the drive thru. Today, she confidently wears a headset and plays a vital role in day-to-day operations at Buddies Bagels. 

Avaleah’s partnership with AHEDD has also been a key factor in her growth. Through this support, Avaleah has gained confidence, improved her communication, and built strong relationships with her coworkers and supervisor. 

Looking back, her biggest accomplishments go beyond learning new tasks. It is the confidence she’s developed and the sense of belonging she now feels. Watching her thrive has been a rewarding experience for AHEDD Employment Specialist Brad McCormick, who said, “It has been amazing to witness Avaleah’s growth and success. I’m grateful to have been part of the process to help, support, and guide her on this journey.” 

Amanda shared that she strives to create a workplace that feels like family, and Avaleah is now a valued part of that environment.
