Employment Specialist Key Responsibilities:

  • Support individuals with disabilities in finding and maintaining meaningful employment in the community.
  • Deliver valuable employment services.
  • Provide person-centered job development which includes job searching, resume writing, job application and interview preparation with your assigned participants.
  • Provide on the site job coaching and job support when an individual is hired. Maintaining professional relationships with employers and other community organizations.
  • Network within the community to create job opportunities.
  • Respond timely to contract requirements.
  • Complete documentation in a timely manner.

Employment Specialist Work Schedule:

  • Working hours typically follow a Monday – Friday daytime schedule, but you must have availability for occasional evening and/or weekend hours as needed based on your participants employment schedules.
  • Ability to work independently and create a flexible schedule for yourself under the supervision of your Area Manager.

Employment Specialist Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Capacity to plan and be responsive to a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Self-motivated and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel within the region for AHEDD business.
  • Have a valid driver’s license, active car insurance and are legally eligible and able to drive to program assignments.
  • Must be eligible for state and federal clearances.
  • Preference goes to candidates with field experience and/or a related education.
  • Obtain the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE) Certificate within six months of hire date.

  • For those candidates who are fluent in Spanish or ASL, base salary starts at $39,603.

The Employment Coordinator role works closely with the Area Manager to serve as a local resource. The Employment Coordinator will help market and promote AHEDD’s employment services to potential participants, families and community agencies.

Employment Coordinator Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Area Manager in supervising staff and overseeing projects.
  • Ability to This role will possess and apply a broader understanding of administrative and programmatic performance, conduct staff training as needed to promote quality assurance, assist with program growth and staff development
